Arnold & Son Double Tourbillon Amber Edition

Piece Unique

Arnold & Son has made a remarkable stride in watchmaking by introducing Baltic amber, also known as ‘tiger’ amber, into their collection of extraordinary dials. This rare material, with its rich, moiré yellow hue, adds an elegant touch to the watch’s design, encircling the two tourbillons. The amber’s unique softness and texture contrast beautifully with the grey gold of the case and skeletonized bridges, as well as the pure white opal hour dials. This combination creates a vibrant array of reflections, making this timepiece an exceptional edition.

Contrary to common belief, not all amber is translucent orange. Baltic amber, for instance, boasts a creamy appearance and a surprising variety of colors. Arnold & Son has selected a warm, moiré yellow shade of this amber for their timepieces. This amber is the fossilized resin of various plants, particularly conifers, which grew along the Baltic Sea coast around 44 million years ago. Over time, rising water levels carried away the plant matter, beginning the geologically slow transformation process into this precious, aesthetically refined material.

Arnold & Son’s use of natural materials, such as their signature stones, makes each dial unique. Amber, however, adds an extra dimension of individuality. Exposure to sunlight will alter the shade of the amber over time, leading to a perceptible change in the color and opacity of the material. This means the appearance of the timepiece will age uniquely, depending on how its wearer uses it.

The Double Tourbillon White Gold model by Arnold & Son features a local time display on the small dial at noon, marked by Roman numerals. Complementing this is a second timezone display at 6 o’clock, using Arabic numerals. These two dials independently display hours and minutes, accurate to the minute. Unlike most travel watches, this piece can adapt to timezones offset by 15, 30, or 45 minutes, offering high precision and flexibility for travelers. Technical Specifications:
